Videoconferencing at Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech supports H.320 (via Merit Network), H.323 (IP) conferencing, and web-based video conferencing. Our Lifesize High-Definition videoconferencing system, lifesize.com, provides clear video quality and multimedia sharing between endpoints. In addition to the High-Definition videoconferencing service, MTU has partnered with Merit Networks to provide support for Michigan Tech's ISDN gateway/bridging services for videoconferencing. Please note that the local MTU videoconference ISDN/gateway service is no longer available.

Adobe Connect Pro

Spring 09 we are piloting Adobe Connect Pro as a replacement for Marratech as an Internet collaboration solution for virtual and emeetings ( Marratech product is now end-of-life Summer 09). Connect Pro allows you to have real-time, multi-point collaborative meetings online. This technology includes chat, video, VoIP, whiteboards, native PowerPoint presenting and sharing, desktop/application sharing and more. Please see Adobe Connect Pro at Michigan Tech.

Scheduling a Videoconference

Videoconferences should be requested at least two weeks in advance. Send e-mail to <videocon@mtu.edu>. Please provide the following information:

• name, phone number, and e-mail address of person requesting the videoconference
• name, phone number, and e-mail address of the contacts at the remote site(s)
• date, time, length, and title of conference
• number of people expected to attend at each site
• MTU account number or billing invoice address
• conference technology requirements: video playback, PC display, room layout, etc
